Boiler installations
When it comes to gas boiler installations, we know that everyone’s needs are different. You may prefer a like-for-like replacement, have an increased demand for heating and hot water, or you may wish to supplement a low-carbon solution (such as a heat pump) with a combi boiler or direct hot water cylinder. That’s why our boiler fitters start by assessing your existing central heating system and discussing your heating needs and budget. This ensures your brand-new boiler will be cost-effective, can heat your space efficiently, and caters to your hot water needs now and in the future. The type of boiler we recommend may depend on the number of bathrooms and amount of hot water being used, space available, budget, control features (e.g. remote control), integration with renewable or low-carbon systems.
Boiler services
We can also perform a regular boiler service. It's recommended to have your boiler serviced annually to ensure it's working safely and efficiently, saving money in the long run. Much like a car, boilers are complex machines requiring maintenance and should be regularly serviced by an expert. An annual boiler service helps to keep your system working properly, running efficiently, and it will help protect against breakdowns. Boiler servicing also tends to be a condition of the manufacturer’s warranty, so arranging a service could save you from having to pay out if repairs are needed. Although a boiler service is recommended every 12 months, you should arrange a service sooner if your boiler’s working but getting intermittent faults, making unusual noises, or if there are other causes for concern. During the service, your engineer will carry out maintenance checks for leaks, component wear and tear, and problems with the gas flue. Our specific boiler service includes checking and adjusting for optimal gas pressure and flow, performing a flue combustion test, inspecting your boiler and controls, visually checking for corrosion and leaks, removing and cleaning the burner (when necessary), checking the pilot burner and probes/cables, cleaning the heat exchanger and flue ways (where required), cleaning out the boiler condensate trap (when required), checking for correct ventilation, the safety devices and the electrical connections, running the boiler to check flue effectiveness and functionality and for gas leaks.
Central heating maintenance
The key to keeping a property warm in the winter months is an efficient central heating system. Our engineers can service your entire central heating system, making sure your boiler is running safely and effectively, your radiators are effiecncently heating the property, and your thermostat is accurately reporting the room temperature.
Heating repairs
Even the most well-maintained heating system can develop faults over time, but our heating engineers are ready to fix any issues that may arise. From boilers breaking down to radiators not evenly heating, a loss of pressure, or leaks developing in the pipework, our boiler and heating engineers can diagnose and repair the issue quickly and safely.
Emergency boiler repair
Our local certified Gas Safe engineers can provide help in an emergency when your boiler has developed a fault and it needs to be fixed ASAP. If you need an emergency boiler repair, call us on Monday-Friday 9am-5pm on 0800 987 4143 or 0203 780 6060 and we will send out a heating engineer to fix the fault as quickly as possible.
Boiler safety checks
We can also perform safety checks and issue Gas Safety Certificates which are all stored in your CanCan account. Gas safety is a vital way of protecting against the dangers of a faulty or non-compliant gas installation. If you’re a landlord of a tenanted residential or commercial property, then you’re legally required to renew your gas safety certificate each year. While this certificate isn’t legally required for homeowners, it is highly recommended. In each case, only Gas Safe-registered engineers are qualified to carry out these gas safety checks for you.
Central heating surveys
The last thing you want is to buy a property, only to find out there’s trouble with the heating system. With a central heating survey (also known as the homebuyer’s or pre-purchase central heating survey), you’ll know what you’re getting before you buy. We perform a visual assessment of your system and provide a report detailing its condition and ability to meet your hot water and central heating needs. In the event that changes or upgrades are needed, estimated costs are provided. Customers sometimes use this information to negotiate a reduction in the sale price of a property they’re buying to offset the cost of these changes. We’ll look for visible signs of existing and potential issues, e.g. if a radiator’s too small to reliably heat a room, evidence of water leaks or corrosion.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why is my boiler not heating the radiators?
If your boiler is working but the radiators remain cold, there may be a fault within the heating system rather than the boiler itself.
Common causes include trapped air in the radiators, low boiler pressure, faulty motorised valves, circulation pump issues, or problems with the thermostat.
We'll inspect the heating system, identify the cause, and carry out the most appropriate repair to restore your heating.
2. Can you repair a boiler that's losing pressure?
Yes. We can investigate boilers that repeatedly lose pressure.
Pressure loss is often caused by a leak within the heating system, a faulty pressure relief valve, a damaged expansion vessel, or bleeding radiators too frequently.
We'll diagnose the cause, carry out the necessary repairs, and safely repressurise the system where appropriate.
3. Do my radiators need bleeding?
If your radiators are cold at the top but warm at the bottom, they may need bleeding.
Air can become trapped inside the heating system over time, preventing hot water from circulating properly through the radiator.
Bleeding the radiators removes trapped air and helps improve heating efficiency throughout your property.
4. Can you replace a faulty radiator valve?
Yes. We replace faulty manual and thermostatic radiator valves.
A damaged valve can prevent the radiator from heating correctly, leak water, or make it difficult to control room temperature.
We'll replace the valve and check the radiator is operating correctly before completing the job.
5. Why are my radiators cold at the bottom?
Radiators that are warm at the top but cold at the bottom are commonly affected by sludge, rust, and debris building up inside the heating system.
This restricts the flow of hot water and reduces the radiator's efficiency.
We'll inspect the system and recommend the most suitable solution, which may include flushing the affected radiators.
6. Can you install a new radiator?
Yes. We install replacement radiators as well as additional radiators during home improvements and renovations.
We'll ensure the new radiator is correctly sized, securely fitted, and connected to your existing heating system.
7. Do you service boilers?
Yes. Regular boiler servicing helps keep your heating system operating safely and efficiently.
Routine servicing allows worn components to be identified early, improves reliability, and may help reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns.
8. What should I do if my boiler stops working?
Start by checking whether the boiler has power, the thermostat is calling for heat, and the system pressure is within the recommended range.
If the problem continues, avoid attempting repairs yourself.
Contact CanCan and we'll investigate the fault, identify the cause, and recommend the most appropriate repair.
9. Can you find heating system leaks?
Yes. We investigate leaks affecting boilers, radiators, and central heating pipework.
Heating system leaks can lead to pressure loss, poor heating performance, and water damage if left unresolved.
We'll locate the leak, carry out the repair, and ensure the system is operating correctly.
10. Do you offer emergency boiler repairs?
Yes. If your boiler has stopped working unexpectedly or you're experiencing a heating emergency, contact us as soon as possible.
We'll prioritise urgent heating issues wherever possible and work to restore your heating and hot water safely.
